If you see idenupdate.motorola.com as the web address to this page

Your Hosts file has been set up correctly!

But we are not done yet~

Close webjal if it is open

1st

Registry edit

Click (or right click) this file -> webjal.reg <-

Windows 98/ME users >here is yours<

Save it to your desktop and then run it.

If it opens up in notepad or explorer (looks like a page with a lot of jiberish)

Close it and instead of running it save it, then right click on the file, & choose open with.  Then choose regedit or registry editor.

Don’t trust registry files and you want to do it your self?

Close webjal. Click the start menu, choose run.  type in regedit.exe and press enter.

It will start your registry editor.  I suggest starting at the My computer tree at the top left.  right click it and choose collapse.  Now click edit (above my computer) and find.  Search for the bad file listings   /webjal010102/index.cgi    and     /WebJAL/R01.01.02/index.cfm   change everyone you find to /webjal010102/index.php

Here is a picture of what the registry edit should look like when done correctly

Restart the computer and try webjal.

Restart your computer (for real) you need to.

Try Webjal after it starts up and you connect to the internet.

IF webjal is still not working:

Download and install this -> mot.cer <-

If you get an error saying the certificate has expired that is fine continue anyway.

If you can’t install the file you can always do things the old fashion way:

Go here https://idenupdate.motorola.com  with microsoft’s internet explorer (ussually a blue 'E' not netscape or firefox).

You should see this page again.  double click on the padlock at the bottom right (near the time) for most versions or single click the padlock in the mid top (by the address bar)and view/install the security certificate in explorer version 7.

Now restart your computer for the changes to take place and try webjal.

If webjal is still giving you an invalid login or server authentication error and you get this page when you go to http://idenupdate.motorola.com then stop any and all future trouble shooting (because you are very close to loading free ringtones and  you will undo everything) and email me (see here).
